Founder & CEO

Who I Am

I'm Tamela Lloyd-Carraway, MS, CPDPE, founder of Building Better Futures, where I partner with parents, caregivers, and professionals to help children and adults with developmental disabilities thrive. I hold a Master of Arts in Child Development from California State University, East Bay, a Family Development Credential from the University of Connecticut, and am a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator (CPDPE). I am also pursuing my Marriage and Family Therapy degree to further strengthen the support I provide to families.

Who I Help & How I Help

I support families navigating autism, developmental disabilities, special education, Regional Center services, and life transitions. Whether preparing for an IEP or IPP meeting, coordinating services, strengthening parent-child relationships, or building effective behavior strategies, my goal is to help families feel informed, empowered, and confident. I use a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approach that recognizes every family's unique experiences and builds upon their existing strengths.

My Story

My work is deeply personal. As the parent of a son with autism and an intellectual disability, I understand firsthand the challenges of navigating complex systems, coordinating services, advocating for appropriate supports, and searching for professionals who truly listen. I know how overwhelming the journey can be and how important it is to have someone walking beside you who understands both professionally and personally.

That experience inspired me to create Building Better Futures. My mission is to ensure families never have to navigate this journey alone. I am committed to providing compassionate guidance, practical strategies, and individualized support that helps families build confidence, strengthen relationships, and create brighter futures.

Whether you are just beginning your journey or looking for additional support, I look forward to partnering with you and helping your family move forward with hope, confidence, and purpose.
